125th Celebration of the Declaration of Philippine Independence

The Philippines, a nation rich in history and culture, celebrated the 125th anniversary of its Declaration of Independence with grandeur and pride. As part of the commemorative festivities, Gran Logia Soberana del Archipielago Filipino, led by Gran Muestre Felipe Navarro, played a significant role in honoring the country’s journey towards sovereignty. Two prominent locations, Luneta in Manila and Kawit in Cavite, stood witness to the remarkable celebrations that marked this important milestone in Philippine history.

On the historic grounds of Luneta, located in the heart of Manila, the Gran Logia Soberana del Archipielago Filipino congregated to pay tribute to the valor and sacrifices of the country’s forefathers who paved the way for freedom. Against the backdrop of the iconic Rizal Monument, our brothers from various lodges came together in a solemn ceremony that blended symbolism, tradition, and patriotism. The event showcased the enduring commitment of Freemasons to upholding the values of liberty, equality, and fraternity.

In this memorable gathering, representatives from different Masonic lodges laid wreaths in honor of the national heroes who ignited the flames of independence. Speeches emphasized the principles that both Freemasonry and the Philippine struggle for independence shared – unity, education, and the pursuit of a just and progressive society. The event at Luneta served as a reminder that the journey towards liberation is an ongoing endeavor that requires the collective efforts of all who cherish freedom.

Equally significant was the commemoration that took place in Kawit, Cavite – the birthplace of the Philippine flag and the site where General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the country’s independence from Spanish colonial rule in 1898. Freemasons gathered in this historic town to honor the legacy of those who paved the way for a sovereign Philippines.

In Kawit, the brothers from GLSdAF Valle de Laguna joined by IPB Juan Carlos Simborio 33°, IPB John Ritchie Jongco 33°, IPB Randy Cabangon 33° and DGM IPB Lhodix Grafia 33° who participated in the 125th Independence Day Celebration held in Aguinaldo Shrine.participated in a parade that culminated in the Aguinaldo Shrine, where the Philippine flag was first unfurled. With the waving flag as a powerful symbol of the nation’s identity, Gran Logia Soberana del Archipielagi Filipino reiterated their commitment to the ideals of nation-building and progress. The gathering in Kawit celebrated the intertwined histories of Freemasonry and the Philippine struggle for independence, underscoring their shared mission of promoting enlightenment, tolerance, and human rights.
